Discount Gillette Fusion & Fusion Power Coming Soon . .

On Wednesday, September 14th 2005, Gillette unveiled its newest shaving system named Fusion.  Fusion will be Gillette's first five-bladed razor, which will also include a sixth trimming blade on the back of the cartridge for beards and mustaches.  This unique design allows men, both clean-shaven and with facial hair, to use the razor.   Another great feature is that the razor is shower safe, allowing you to shave when and where you prefer.

Gillette is planning to introduce two versions of the Fusion razor, one manual and one battery-powered, capitalizing on the tremendous success of their current M3 Power line.  On the Fusion Power model (shown to the right), an indicator light will conveniently tell the user when the battery is running low and an automatic shut-off feature is included.  Gillette also plans to introduce shaving gels and after shaves using the Fusion brand name, making this a complete line of shaving products.

This is a bold move for Gillette, whose Mach3 line is now competing with the 4-bladed Quattro razor introduced by Schick.  In addition, Schick is introducing a battery-powered version of their Quattro razor later this month, raising the stakes once again.  By moving directly to a 5-bladed razor and offering a battery-powered model, Gillette is once again setting the pace in the ultra competitive shaving market.

When introduced, Fusion razors should cost about the same as the M3 Power does today.  The Fusion handles will retail for about $10-$12 and a four pack of refill cartridges will cost $12-$14.  Of course, Razors Direct plans to carry the new Gillette Fusion line and will offer our customers a considerable savings over the retail price.
